How to fix common SSL errors
SSL errors look alarming but are usually quick to resolve. Here are the common ones and where to fix them in CHPanel.
Certificate not yet issued
New site or newly added domain? Sign in at chpanel.bphost.biz with your hosting account email address and CHPanel password and open SSL/TLS. If the domain is not listed with a certificate, choose it under Issue a certificate and click Issue certificate. Certificates only issue once the domain points at BPHOST.
DNS not pointed at the server
Let's Encrypt checks your domain from the internet. If it still points at an old host, or a record is wrong, issuing and renewals both fail. Fix the A record with your DNS provider (or in DNS → Zone Editor if we host your zone), wait for the change to spread, then issue again.
Wrong host name (name mismatch)
The certificate covers your website name — yourdomain.co.za and www.yourdomain.co.za. Two common mistakes: a mail program set to use the bare domain or the server name as its mail server (use mail.yourdomain.co.za, exactly as shown under Email Accounts → Connect Devices), and a subdomain that has no certificate of its own — issue one for it in SSL/TLS.
Padlock missing: mixed content
The certificate is fine, but the page loads an image, script or stylesheet over plain http://. Change those links to https://. On WordPress, set both addresses under Settings → General to https:// and fix old http:// links in your content.
Too many redirects
Usually a double redirect — a rule in .htaccess plus a plugin, or a redirect under Domains → Redirects doing the same job. Remove the duplicate. Still stuck? Open a support ticket with the exact error and the address you visited, and we will sort it out.
