How to connect to your server via SSH

SSH gives you secure command-line access to your VPS or dedicated server — the most direct way to manage it.

What you need

  • Your server's IP address (in your welcome email).
  • The root username and password (or an SSH key).
  • An SSH client: Terminal on Mac/Linux, or PowerShell / PuTTY on Windows.

Connect

  1. Open your SSH client.
  2. Run: ssh root@your-server-ip
  3. Accept the host key the first time, then enter your password.

Tips for safety

  • Use SSH keys instead of passwords where you can.
  • Consider changing the default SSH port and disabling direct root login once you're comfortable.
