How to migrate your website to BPHOST
Moving from another host? BPHOST does the move for you, so you do not have to copy anything yourself.
1. Ask us to move it
- Open a support ticket once your BPHOST hosting is active.
- Include your old host's control-panel login (for example their cPanel address, username and password) and list the domains to move.
- Keep your old hosting active until the move is finished — do not cancel it yet.
2. What gets moved
- Website files — into your BPHOST account's public_html, with a folder for each addon domain or subdomain.
- Databases — recreated on our server, with your site's configuration updated to match.
- Email — your mailboxes and the messages in them.
We confirm in the ticket when everything has been copied, and tell you if anything (such as a password) needs your attention.
3. Point your domain at BPHOST
- At your domain registrar, change the nameservers to ns1.bphost.biz and ns2.bphost.biz. If the domain is registered with BPHOST, ask us in the same ticket and we will do it.
- DNS changes take a few hours to spread. Some visitors may still reach the old server in the meantime, so leave the old hosting running for a day or two.
- Once the domain points at our server, a free SSL certificate is issued for it and appears under SSL/TLS in CHPanel.
After the move
Sign in to CHPanel with your CHPanel password to manage the account. To set up Outlook or your phone, open Email → Email Accounts and click Connect Devices next to the mailbox for the mail.yourdomain.co.za settings. Anything not working as expected? Reply to your ticket or open a new one.
