How to reset your WordPress admin password

Locked out of WordPress? Use WordPress's own email reset first. If that email cannot reach you, our support team can reset the password for you — there is no phpMyAdmin on BPHOST's servers, so the old "edit the database" method no longer applies.

Option 1: email reset

  1. Go to yourdomain.co.za/wp-admin and click Lost your password?
  2. Enter your WordPress username or the admin email address and click Get New Password.
  3. Check that mailbox for the reset link (look in Junk too), click it and choose a new password.

This needs your site to be able to send email, and the admin address must be one you can read.

Where is the email?

If the admin address is a mailbox on a domain hosted with us, read it at webmail.bphost.biz, or in CHPanel under Email → Email Accounts → Check Email (no password needed there). If the address is one you no longer have access to, or the link never arrives, go to option 2.

Option 2: ask support to reset it

  1. Open a support ticket from your client area and give us the domain and the WordPress username.
  2. Because the ticket comes from the hosting account holder, we know it is your site. We set a temporary password and send it to you.
  3. Sign in, then change it straight away under Users → Profile.

Tip

Once you are back in, set the admin email under Settings → General to an address you check regularly, so the reset link works next time.
